Well, this was probably not expected so soon – John Smedley has canceled the Kickstarter campaign for his new action MMORPG Hero’s Song – but the game is still set to be released.
Moreover, there were no physical items offered, something that usually encourages nostalgic fans to spend a bit more money if they receive a nice box with a disc, a map, and a manual. John Smedley explains that they made some mistakes in the Kickstarter campaign and that’s why they are now discontinuing it. They had raised around 136,000 dollars by then. But that does not mean that Hero’s Song will not be released.
Hero’s Song will still be released
Smedley believes that they have investors on board who have now agreed to cover the full funding amount for the game. This means Hero’s Song will also be released normally, and there will be no need to approach a publisher. They want to continue to be transparent with the community and keep them informed about all developments. For example, they are already planning Twitch live streams that will showcase the development of the MMO.
Write your own story
Hero’s Song features some interesting gameplay mechanics. Each player can create their own world, which differs from other worlds in terms of landscape and races based on the choice of gods. There should not be a main quest. Every player writes their own story through their actions. Hero’s Song is expected to enter beta at least later this year.
