Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard’s fun MOBA, receives the second Overwatch heroine, Zarya, along with a new Starcraft map, Warhead Junction. Read here what it’s all about!
After the last appearance of the rude Protoss Alarak from Starcraft 2 in Heroes of the Storm, today we have the next new heroine. This time Zarya from the hero shooter Overwatch joins the hero selection, and just like her companion Tracer , she has been faithfully transferred from Overwatch to Heroes of the Storm. Additionally, we received the map Warhead Junction as a new playground.
The perfect off-tank!
Zarya is also an offensive tank in Heroes of the Storm, as her gameplay revolves around the use of her shields, which protect herself and friends. For every damage she prevents, her energy increases. And like in Overwatch, this strengthens her regular attacks, allowing her particle beam and particle grenade to deal significantly more damage.
As ultimates, Zarya can use the known Graviton Charge from Overwatch to hold enemies at a point. Alternatively, she has another ability, unique to Heroes of the Storm, which creates a field that no enemy may enter. This allows Zarya to create tactical barriers. However, since she is heavily reliant on her shields, Zarya should always venture out with at least one teammate. This is the only way to ensure the necessary energy for maximum firepower!
I blow everything up!
While we had to protect Zerg last update, the new map Warhead Junction gifts us an arsenal of nuclear warheads. These respawn at fixed points on the map, and whoever finds a bomb can carry it and throw it at the enemy whenever they want. The nuclear explosion deals immense damage and is a key to victory.
However, if someone carrying a bomb gets killed, they hand over the warhead to the enemy, which must be prevented at all costs. As a special fun element, there are two big Zerg creatures on the map that we can recruit as mercenaries. By the way, we already played Zarya and the new maps weeks ago at GamesCom 2016.
Jürgen says: Zarya is my favorite heroine from Overwatch, and Starcraft is my favorite Blizzard universe. Therefore, tonight is already reserved. See you in the Nexus!
