Yrel will be the new heroine for Heroes of the Storm. And she has something else in tow – the first Warcraft map for the Nexus! The Alterac Valley is coming to HotS.
Every few weeks, the developers of Heroes of the Storm release a new hero or fresh events for the Nexus. Now upcoming content has been revealed showcasing a heroine that Warcraft fans have long yearned for. Yrel is the first Draenei in the Nexus and will enter the battlefield as a tank with a unique playstyle – all her abilities must be charged up.
Yrel’s abilities in Heroes of the Storm
The unique aspect of all of Yrel’s abilities is that they become more effective the longer Yrel charges them – each up to a fixed maximum.
- Yrel’s trait is Divine Purpose. Upon activation, the next basic ability is instantly cast at full strength and has no mana cost.
- Righteous Defense allows Yrel to charge a spell. Once unleashed, it deals damage to all enemies in close proximity while simultaneously healing herself.
- Righteous Hammer charges up a powerful strike. Hit enemies are pushed back and take damage. Damage and push range increase while channeling. If the strike is fully charged, hit enemies are briefly stunned as well.
- With Vengeful Retribution, Yrel gains divine wings that allow her to jump. Upon impact, Yrel deals damage and slows affected enemies. The longer she charges, the further she can jump.
- Yrel’s first heroic ability is Tireless Defender. Upon activation, Yrel surrounds herself with a barrier that absorbs all damage and converts a portion of absorbed damage into healing. The ability can be activated while other abilities are being channeled.
- The second heroic ability is Sanctified Ground. Yrel marks a large area around her. As long as she remains in this area, she receives a massive bonus to her armor. The ability remains active until Yrel dies or leaves the circle of Sanctified Ground.
The “Alterac Pass” is coming to the Nexus
For a long time, fans have demanded it, and now Blizzard finally fulfills the players’ wish. Heroes of the Storm is finally getting a map from the Warcraft universe. Most players will likely recognize the map, as it is the Alterac Valley from World of Warcraft – in the Nexus known as “Alterac Pass”. As in the “good old days”, battles will be fought between the Horde and the Alliance, with the goal of defeating the boss of the respective opposing faction.
