The latest patch of Heroes of the Storm is live. Those using an XP booster are now also doing something good for their teammates.
Since last night (13.11.2018), a new patch is active in Heroes of the Storm. The update not only brought the new heroine Orphea, but also a change to the XP boosters. They now support not only the consumer but also all their teammates.
What are boosters? XP boosters, previously known as Stimpacks, can be used in Heroes of the Storm to earn additional XP and gold. This helps players reach new levels faster, unlock more rewards (such as loot boxes), and buy new characters more quickly. Boosters can be purchased with real money, but they are sometimes also included in loot chests.
XP-Boost for teammates: A change to the boosters makes the whole thing more social. The XP boost now works not only for the buyer but also for all teammates in a match (that is, all 4 allies and all 5 opponents). They each receive a bonus of 5% on their earned experience points.
Here are a few examples:
- If only the player has the XP booster, their own bonus remains at 100%. All other players receive 5% bonus XP.
- If the player and two other players have the booster, their own bonus is 110% for all with an active booster and 15% for all who do not have a booster.
- If all 10 players have an active booster, each player receives 145% additional XP (that is, 45% as extra bonus).
This bonus adds to the regular XP bonus. So instead of 100% additional XP, a maximum of 145% is possible with the booster.
Additional XP bonuses: In addition to the booster, players can further increase their XP, as Heroes of the Storm encourages playing with friends. Playing in a group with a friend earns 25% additional XP. If the player joins a group of 5 players total, they can earn another 50% bonus XP.
Playing in certain leagues is also rewarded. A match in the Hero League offers 25% additional XP and a match in the Team League offers 50% XP.
Combining all possible effects can generate a bonus of 270% bonus XP – nearly four times the normal value. This practically rains loot chests.
Are you using the XP boosters in Heroes of the Storm? Do you think it’s good that they now have a “social” component? Or should teammates not benefit from your own boost?
By the way, the patch also introduced the heroine Orphea. She is the first “original” character born in the Nexus. And of course, Orphea is a young girl with tentacle monster.
