Coming soon to Heroes of the Storm are the revamped ranked matches, but the new unranked draft mode will also be integrated into Blizzard’s MOBA. Read here what it’s all about.
“We want to establish the unranked team selection as the preferred game mode for players who want to play a team selection game with a few friends or want a more structured gaming experience without the pressure of a ranked match.” This is what Blizzard says in the BattleNet blog about the unranked team selection mode in Heroes of the Storm.
Because the new game mode, where you can play in a team but are not exposed to the stress of a looming rank loss, will be added to the ranked matches in mid-June. Since this mode also has its own selection algorithm, the queues for player selection and opponent search should be very short.
Rankings and Uncertainty
By the way, the player assignment ranking for unranked team games and hero league games will initially be based on the quick match ranking at the beginning of the new game mode. Only after Season 1 will the player assignment ranking of the unranked team mode serve as the basis.
Moreover, the so-called “uncertainty” in ranked games and both hero and team leagues is to be significantly increased. Uncertainty indicates how well the system knows you and can classify you in terms of skill. However, to give you a chance to reposition yourself, the values will be increased and only lowered again through victories. According to Blizzard, this is supposed to allow for fairer rounds.
