A HotS player complains in the forum that he has been unfairly punished. Blizzard is very open and “explains” his offenses.
“I was unfairly silenced!”
Especially MOBAs like League of Legends, SMITE or Heroes of the Storm are notorious for not having the friendliest players to encounter in random matches. Many of these games therefore have a reporting feature that allows players to directly report others when they become abusive.
In Heroes of the Storm, the result of enough reports is that the corresponding players are “silenced” – they can no longer chat with strangers for one day.
The user DougJuggler received this penalty and shared in the forum how disappointed he is with this system, as it has unfairly impacted him. He writes:
“WOW I am soooo disappointed. Every time someone has a problem in the game and becomes toxic, I report them and also write ‘reported’. But I guess if you do that, you just get reported as well. I didn’t break any rules, yet I was silenced. Thanks, Blizzard. Do you even look at the reports or are the terms and conditions just for show?”
Blizzard rarely reveals why individual players received penalties, but with such boldness, they likely couldn’t hold back. A support employee responded in the forum:
“For your confirmation: You were not silenced because you reported others. You were silenced because you wrote such things in chat:
- LILI WAS ZUR (double profanity) are you (profanity)
- Kill Tracer, Noobs (character from the religion) (obscene word)
- WONDERFUL, THE (offensive word) THAT CANNOT RESPOND TO MY INSULTS HAVE SNATCHED MY HERO AWAY
If anyone thinks they were unfairly silenced, please contact our support team and the game masters will review all files related to this incident.”
Blizzard has shown quite a stylish sense of humor.
