Blizzard’s MOBA-like non-MOBA Heroes of the Storm is getting three new heroes, a new map, and the “Arena” mode.
Blizzcon means news and updates for all games under Blizzard’s control. For Heroes of the Storm, they have really pulled out all the stops.
These new heroes are coming to Heroes of the Storm
A year ago, they were just at the beginning, now they have a robust collection of heroes and want to expand it further:
- With Cho’Gall, an insane new hero is being added, controlled by 2 players, cannot be purchased, but is supposed to spread like a “virus” among players
- Greymane will probably be a werewolf, can deal damage in melee form and attack from a distance in human form with a firearm
- Lunara – is a ranged dryad, looks quite agile
In the long term, even Tracer from the Overwatch universe is expected to join. So the “rumor” of 4 heroes and 2 new maps is indeed true.
New Battleground Towers of Doom
The new battleground is the “Towers of Doom“, looks like a battleground during Halloween. When you capture enemy villages, they switch to your team. The Headless Horseman has also been sighted.
The Arena aims to be a compact fun mode of Heroes of the Storm
What is particularly interesting is the new mode “Arena.” There are hardly any rules, it will be a “tight, very dangerous battleground”. Players can also play heroes already selected by others here, so a match of 5 Illidans against 5 Illidans is possible. The arenas are supposed to provide a new gaming experience in Heroes of the Storm.
Players will be able to choose one from 3 offered heroes. The heroes available for selection do not have to be owned by the player. There are no experience and talents; only the hero ability can be selected.
They are supposed to be “shortened, compact” battles with only one map objective.
What was shown felt a bit like the “ARAM” mode from League of Legends – no big frills, but immediate action against other players.
