Even professionals feel the ban hammer in Heroes of the Storm. One of them might have temporarily put his career on hold because of this.
Heroes of the Storm suffers, like almost all major MOBAs, from a significant problem and that is the toxic community. If the team does not dance to their own whistle, some players easily lose their composure and simply quit. To ensure that such players are punished after an outburst, there is the reporting system.
However, many players wonder: Does reporting actually help? Does it have consequences for the accounts of those affected?
The answer is probably: Yes, it does. Maksym Szczypa, better known as Mopsio from Team Zealot, has recently experienced it firsthand (digitally).
Strange stream exposes toxic behavior
It became noticeable in a game of the streamer Mewnfarez. He played in the Hero League and was matched with Mopsio in a game. Mopsio behaved not only like a bull in a china shop in the chat, but also refused to participate properly in the game after a while. You can watch it in this short clip:
The whole thing was spread on Reddit and barely 12 hours later, there was a response from Blizzard: Mopsio has behaved unsportingly and consequently receives a 7-day game ban.
Particularly frustrating: As a result, he cannot participate in the Heroes Global Championship (HGC) matches, and Team Zealot has to find a substitute player.
Overall, this is a nice example that even professionals cannot get away with everything.
What do you think of this approach? A good decision from Blizzard? Or should one rather turn a blind eye when it comes to such large tournaments?
HotS might soon get new heroes – Hanzo or even the dragon lady Alexstrasza!
