In Blizzard’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm, there may be royal prominence on the horizon. Many signs indicate that Kael’Thas Sunstrider could be the next hero or rather: the next arrogant guy with serious issues in Heroes of the Storm.
Heroes of the Storm needs new heroes: There are simply too few, everyone including Blizzard seems to agree. They want to significantly increase the frequency at which new heroes are introduced. It seems that the next playable character is “Kael’Thas Sunstrider” from the Warcraft universe. At least, there are hints suggesting this.
He has already been spotted in a complete list of 37 possible heroes, Blizzard confirmed him at Pax East 2014, the voice work is done, and now an image with his artwork has surfaced.
Kael’Thas is one of the prominent figures from Warcraft, who over the course of the story falls into the arms of the demonic Burning Legion. He played an important role in Warcraft III. In WoW, he was the head of the BC raid “Tempest Keep” and was quite a force with his entourage. Later, he reappeared in the 5-man dungeon “Magisters’ Terrace”.

He is considered a fickle character who has betrayed his allies multiple times. He is one of those characters that players love to hate with all their hearts. Furthermore, he is, like the rest of his people, the blood elves, a total magic junkie. He hoped to get the necessary fix from the demons of the Burning Legion.
According to dataminers, Kael’Thas’ quotes when he kills enemies include:
- to Illidan: You should have seen this coming… oh, yes… right.
- to Arthas: Death looks good on you.
- to Small: Ugh, at least I didn’t have to touch it to kill it.
- to Tyrande: Once I saved your life, now I take it from you.
Really, a nice guy. Just misunderstood.
