At BlizzCon, a very peculiar, new hero was just introduced: Cho’gall requires two players to be controlled.
Two Heads, One Body
Does anyone still remember Blizzard’s April Fools’ joke, when ogres were supposed to become a playable race in World of Warcraft that needed to be controlled by 2 players simultaneously? Blizzard has now turned this ancient joke into reality and introduces a hero in Heroes of the Storm that must be controlled by two players at the same time: The dark ogre mage of the Shadow Hammer cult, Cho’gall.
The exact mechanics of how the control works have not been clarified yet, but it is assumed that both players have their own abilities (which represent the two heads). However, it has not been explained exactly who determines where the character is moving, or whether both players do so simultaneously and “take away” commands from each other.
However, there is something else that is special: Cho’gall is initially only available for all visitors of BlizzCon (with a virtual ticket), as he cannot be purchased with gold or real money! However, Cho’gall behaves like a “virus”: This means that if you convince a player to play Cho’gall with you, that player will also unlock the hero after a certain number of victories – until eventually all players have the double-headed ogre.
It is beyond doubt that precise communication, perhaps via Skype or Teamspeak, will be essential for this character. There will surely be more information throughout the night.
With this decision, Blizzard once again demonstrates that they want to break the established standards of the genre, as they have already done with Abathur or the Lost Vikings – it remains to be seen whether Cho’gall will be as much fun as it promises now.
