The colorful and fast-paced hero shooter Gigantic likely has no future. The current January update was the last one. Mid-year should be the end.
Gigantic is a quirky hero shooter from Motiga and Perfect World, which has an already dramatic backstory. The game has already been declared dead twice and dropped by publishers and investors.
But the team at Motiga always believed in success and even continued to work when all employees were actually laid off.
Gigantic was considered a small gaming miracle, but unfortunately in the end, it was all for nothing and the servers of Gigantic will soon be shut down.
“Gigantic did not resonate enough with gamers”
The end of Gigantic was foreseeable. In November 2017, most employees at Motiga were laid off. Only a core team remained – but this phase is also coming to an end.
The game einfach wasn’t successful and had hardly any players. One simply could not generate enough resonance with the target audience. Recently, only 167 gamers were on the servers at Steam.
Only a skeleton crew has been taking care of the game since November. Therefore, it was not possible to bring updates and new content into the game and on the other hand to fix bugs and existing problems.
July is the end
Therefore, the publisher Perfect World has now decided to finally pull the plug. Gigantic is supposed to run until July 31, 2018. There will be no more updates, and the current January update from January 31, 2018, was thus the final patch.
In the game, you can no longer buy rubies and hero packs. All heroes, including the latest, are now free. You can now get rid of your already earned currency for discounted items in the game shop.
Gigantic is not the first MMO to die. These games left us in 2017.
