Bethesda and id Software announced a new installment in the Doom universe in 2018. So far, the information about Doom Eternal has been rather scarce. However, that might change soon, as the game is supposed to be showcased at E3 2019.
This year, a Quakecon will be held in Europe for the first time. Alongside the event in the USA, fans can get their hands on Doom Eternal in London on July 26 and 27 for the first time.

About Doom Eternal – Battle on Earth and Phobos
Under the motto “Hell on Earth,” Doomguy, the nameless protagonist of the Doom games, is sent to Earth. After the events of the 2016 Doom reboot, the minions of Hell invade Earth and cause a lot of havoc.
In addition to Earth, the moon Phobos will also play a significant role. Phobos has been visited before in the Doom series, specifically in the very first level of the original game.
Doom Eternal Release – When can we play?
When exactly Doom Eternal is set to be released is currently unknown. Amazon lists the game for a release on December 31, 2019. However, this will likely be a placeholder. Still, this could be a sign that Eternal will be released this year.
This year, Quakecon carries the subtitle ‘Year of Doom’ – that is, “The Year of Doom.”

In the gameplay trailer, we see that Doom Eternal doesn’t play much differently from its predecessor from 2016. Nevertheless, there are some new features that will bring fresh air to the upcoming shooter: Doomguy can climb along walls and dash in one direction. Also, there is a grappling hook, a new melee blade on the arm, and a small flamethrower on the protagonist’s shoulder.
Moreover, there are supposed to be twice as many demons in Eternal as there were in Doom from 2016. However, it is not known whether this refers to double the amount of different enemy types or simply the number of monsters to be killed.
During Invasions, players become demons
At Quakecon 2018, a new feature for Doom Eternal was introduced, where players can infiltrate the worlds of others. Similar to Dark Souls, hostile players will then suddenly stand in your way – as demons!
According to developer Marty Stratton, this feature represents an important change for Doom: “We’re not just making a Doom game anymore; we’re developing a Doom universe.”
Players who do not want to deal with the invasions of hostile players can also disable this feature in the options.
This is the platform for the shooter
Doom Eternal will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. On PC, the shooter will be available through the Bethesda Launcher and Steam.
In addition, Doom Eternal is also expected to be playable on Google’s Stadia and even be among the launch titles there. Another sign that Eternal will likely be released in 2019. Google’s streaming service is set to launch in the USA, Canada, the UK, and Europe in 2019.
