Fortnite: Battle Royale is starting soon in Season 7 and so far it’s been quiet in the game. However, we already know some details and have a few assumptions we would like to share with you regarding the start of the season, its themes, and special features.
Season 7 without much fuss: Unlike previous seasons, there isn’t much going on shortly before the end of Season 6. Compared to the effort surrounding the comet or the rocket as well as the weeks-long events around the cube, it is relatively calm in the Fortnite world.
Nevertheless, there are now some solid clues about what will happen next.
All known information about Season 7
When does Season 7 start? Season 6 ends on December 5, 2018. According to Epic, Season 7 begins the next day, on December 6, 2018.
What theme will Season 7 have? It is considered certain that winter and probably Christmas will be the theme of Season 7. A clear hint is the iceberg that is currently approaching the map. Moreover, it has recently started to snow.
How will the map change? It is likely that the snow will cover parts of the map with ice and snow, but possibly only on the western half of the map, as the desert in the southeast may remain a desert and retain its unique character.
There will certainly be various new places, and other places will be altered. It is conceivable that rivers and lakes, and possibly even Loot Lake, will freeze over.
What gameplay changes will there be? If snow and ice arrive, there may possibly be special gameplay innovations.
Possible changes could include:
- Footprints in the snow that allow you to find your opponents, similar to the competing title Darwin Project.
- Slippery ice surfaces
- Snowball fight as a toy
- The teaser images show snowboards and zip lines. Therefore, you will likely be able to ride the board at certain spots. The zip lines, on the other hand, should allow for quick relocations at designated spots.
- Teleporters like in the bunker at Wailing Woods could also appear in larger numbers in the game, allowing for even quicker relocations.
Additionally, all the wacky Christmas skins, such as the nutcracker or the elf trooper, are likely to be back in the shop, along with many more Christmas and winter skins.
Will there be a new story in Season 7?
Open questions from Season 6: The end of Season 6 is extremely calm and uneventful. The big bang literally happened around Halloween when the cube was torn apart.
However, several open questions remain that will likely become topics in Season 7:
- What was the butterfly at the end of the cube explosion cutscene about?
- What role does the Killer Robot A.I.M play, which apparently came flying from the snowstorm?
- Will there be a chicken restaurant with the Chicken Trooper that shakes up the food battle mode?
- And how did the great battle between Burger and Pizza turn out?
Meanwhile, there have been faint hints at a new plot. In the first teaser, a dark figure made of ice was seen. It resembled the Lich King or Sauron a bit. In addition, there was a fox-headed snowboarder. The new theme could thus represent a darker, frozen world akin to Game of Thrones, rather than a cozy Christmas.
