We explain how to get all 5 gadgets for your Palico in Monster Hunter World (PS4, Xbox One, later on PC). Here’s how to get the gadgets: Flashfly Cage, Shield Spike, Coral Orchestra, Loot Blade, and Miaulotow Cocktail.
Palicos are not just your cute companions in Monster Hunter World. They can learn useful tricks and find new gadgets during your adventures which will help you survive in combat.
In every area of Monster Hunter World, there is one hidden quest for new Palico gadgets. These are always related in one way or another to the wild Grimalkyne tribes, the distant relatives of the Palicos.
Your Palicos receive new gadgets from the Grimalkyne, and they also learn new tricks from them, such as taming certain lower monsters in the corresponding areas.
- Ancient Forest: Jagras
- Wildspire Waste: Kestodon
- Coral Highlands: Shamos
- Rotten Vale: Girros
- Elder’s Recess: Gastodon
Additionally, the Grimalkyne will occasionally hunt alongside you from now on.
To equip the gadgets, you must first talk to your Palico in your room or at the camp.
On Nexxoss Gaming’s YouTube page, you’ll find a video guide on the gadgets:
Monster Hunter World: Gadget Flashfly Cage
The first hidden quest for the Flashfly Cage gadget begins in the Ancient Forest. There, while exploring the area, you will find scribbles on walls and trees.
These were made by members of a Grimalkyne tribe that lives in the forest. Once you find enough scribbles, one of these creatures will appear on the map.

The fastest way to get to the location is by heading to Camp 17. Up in the treetops, the Grimalkyne will lead you on a chase that ends at their main camp.
There, your Palico will talk to their new friend and receive the Flashfly Cage gadget.

What the Flashfly Cage does in Monster Hunter World
With the help of the cage, you can blind your opponents. As your gadget experience increases, you gain more control over when and where the cage can be placed, but most importantly, the duration and intensity of the blindness increases.
Gadget: Shield Spike
The second quest also starts with the scribbles of the Grimalkyne, but this time in the Wildspire Waste. Once you have found the tribe’s main camp in area 8, their leader will give you the task of capturing the remaining three members.

You can find these with the help of the map and catch them with the net. But be careful, once the Grimalkyne notice you, they will immediately flee, so you must sneak up on them carefully. As a reward, you will receive the Shield Spike gadget.
What the Shield Spike does in Monster Hunter World
The Shield Spike is a distraction maneuver of the Palicos. It draws the monster’s attention away from you, giving you enough time to heal or use buff items.

At higher experience levels, the gadget can withstand more damage from enemies, and your Palico will even be able to inflict damage on the monsters with it.
Gadget: Coral Orchestra
In the Coral Highlands, you will eventually stumble upon some Grimalkyne riding on Shamos in a cave in area 10.

When you fight them, you can follow the cats back to their camp, which now appears on the map.
There, you will receive a new mission from one of the Grimalkyne, where you have to eliminate two Tzitzi-Ya-Ku, whom the tribe seems to have some problems with. As a reward, you get the Coral Orchestra.

The gadget gives your Palico the ability to enhance you with various buffs of attack and defense.
It can also grant you resistances to various negative status effects. The effectiveness of the buffs increases with the level of the gadget experience.
Gadget: Loot Blade

To obtain this gadget, you must first find the monster Odogaron in the Rotten Vale. Once it starts to carry a piece of meat back to its nest, you must discreetly follow it and wait for it to disappear again.
At this point, a Grimalkyne will appear and start taking the meat. Once it notices you, it will flee again, but will immediately pop up in another location on the map.

There, the cat will flee again. However, if you drop a piece of meat at that spot and step back a little, it will come back and even bring its friends. As a thank you for the meat, you will receive the Loot Blade.

This useful gadget has the ability to give you extra loot from the monsters after battle. It is especially handy if you need to farm certain monsters for any reason.

The amount of additional items increases in parallel with the gadget experience.
Gadget: Miaulotow Cocktail
The quest for the last gadget can only be obtained once you have unlocked all other gadgets. Then you can talk to the Lynian researcher in Altera, who will assign you the task of looking for the traces of the wild Gajalaka tribe of the Grimalkyne.

In the first area of the Elder’s Recess, you’ll find quite a few of their scribbles, others are scattered throughout the world and are not limited to a specific area.
To find the scribbles as quickly as possible, you should pay attention to which area the Lynian researcher is currently in on the map. You will always discover some in his vicinity.
Once this quest is completed, you can go to the Gajalaka camp, which is located in the second area of the Elder’s Recess. However, you can only enter it at night.

Once you are there, you need to sneak past the Grimalkyne to reach their chief. As a reward, the Gajalaka will allow you to use their underground tunnel system from now on and give you the Miaulotow Cocktail gadget.
