Torchlight Frontiers aims to be an action RPG MMO, providing a colorful alternative to Diablo 3 and Path of Exile. You can see how it all looks in action in a video from PAX West.
What is Torchlight Frontiers? This game is the latest installment in the Torchlight series by former Blizzard developer Max Schaefer. Like in Diablo and similar games, you click to kill monsters, collect loot, and upgrade your heroes. Additionally, Torchlight Frontiers aims to incorporate MMO features:
- Housing with specific bonuses for the player and the guild
- Quest hubs and group instances like Marvel Heroes
- Dynamically generated events in randomly generated worlds

Path of Exile in Casual?
The video from PAX West has received positive reactions from some players on Reddit. The Torchlight series has long had fans with its quirky colorful graphic style, complex pets, and diverse character options, who also remain loyal to the latest installment. Additionally, some users see a market for a game that is more complex than Diablo but not as extreme as Path of Exile. A sort of “casual Path of Exile,” as noted by a Reddit user. There could indeed be a niche for this in the genre.
