What was the survey about? With the new year comes new gaming content for MMO fans. We wanted to know in a survey which MMO you are most looking forward to in 2020 and you answered us.
To maintain better clarity, this survey only included MMO titles. You can find a survey about multiplayer games in general here. It is still active, so check it out and cast your vote!
Note: Each reader was able to vote three times in the survey, which is why the total number of votes for the listed games is significantly over 100%. A total of 643 readers participated in the survey.
Rank 3: Ashes of Creation

Ashes of Creation received 19.75% of your votes and thus landed in 3rd place in our survey.
The year 2019 did not go according to plan for the MMORPG. The first alpha was postponed indefinitely, the PvP mode Apocalypse was not very successful, and not much news was heard about the game.
However, many of you were not discouraged by this and still hope that Ashes of Creation will pull itself together in 2020 and deliver. The concept of the areas that need to be conquered and built promises exciting territory battles for all fans of good PvP.
The developer of the MMORPG, Interpid Studios, is also looking positively towards the new year:
What MeinMMO readers say about Ashes of Creation: The mood in the comments about Ashes of Creation was very positive at the beginning of 2019, and many players were looking forward to a new western sandbox MMORPG.
As a console player and trophy hunter with a documented world record in the game “Destiny 2” on PlayStation 4, I have to say I can hardly wait to play Ashes of Creation.

But over the course of the year, the mood cooled significantly, not least due to the postponement of the alpha test and the lack of major information updates.
However, even though 2019 was very quiet about Ashes of Creation, our survey shows that some MeinMMO readers continue to keep a close eye on the game’s development.
So I still see the game positively. And I am also one of the few who still play BR. Why? I personally find BR, as it is, more exciting than Fortnite, etc.

With 35.77% of all votes, Lost Ark fought its way to second place in our survey.
In 2019, western fans were left empty-handed. Although the open beta has been running in Korea for over a year now and winning awards, we have to watch in envy from afar.
But even though the big hype around Lost Ark has now subsided both in Korea and with us, many of you are still waiting for a release in the West to finally test what the MMORPG has to offer.
The developer Smilegate is constantly providing new information and hints, which make us hope for a soon announcement of the release date for the West.
What MeinMMO readers say about Lost Ark: Many MeinMMO readers who are interested in Lost Ark are suffering from the delay of the release in the West.
Every time I read Lost Ark, it feels like salt in a wound.

While fans in Korea and Russia are playing, western players still have to wait, and this is reflected in the mood. Some express concern that Lost Ark might miss the right timing for release and therefore sink. User Sevenghost wrote, for example:
Smilegate had their chance with Lost Ark to deliver what many have been waiting for. But since Blizzard made a rather impressive announcement with Diablo 4, I doubt that Lost Ark can gain a foothold here as it could have before the announcement.
It is not unusual for Asian MMORPGs to take a long time to arrive in the West. With Lost Ark, the wait is even harder since it appears to be a solid and well-polished game.
However, the results of our survey show that the readers of MeinMMO are still excited about Lost Ark and hope to soon enjoy the MMORPG.

The MMORPG New World dominated our survey with a whopping 60.50% of your votes and left its rivals far behind.
Just recently, New World made big waves. In our interview, the developers shared that the unrestricted open-world PvP will be downgraded. The MMORPG will introduce a toggle for open PvP and wants to give its players the choice of whether to engage in PvP or not.
As part of this, New World will also offer more PvE content and better customization options for characters.
Does this decision reflect in New World’s first place ranking? Most likely. Will it succeed in balancing PvP and PvE content? We are just as curious about that in 2020 as you are!
What MeinMMO readers say about New World: Overall, the developers’ decision to limit PvP in the open world and give players the choice in this regard has been positively received by MeinMMO readers. In the article announcing the restriction of PvP, the reader Klarus wrote, for example:
Personally, I find the development much more interesting for me. The ganking simply ruins the fun for many.
I pre-ordered “New World” and have great hopes for the game to finally get a new setting and variety.

Our statistics have seen a significant increase in interest in New World since the announcement. For many of you, the unrestricted PvP was a reason to stay away from the MMORPG. But that has changed now, as you can see from our survey.
However, there are also cautious voices who view the removal of unrestricted open-world PvP critically. Reader Cameltoetem wrote, for example:
A question I ask myself is: How much PvE content can the game really have if they have only switched to PvE for, say, 9 months?
