Usually, it holds true: Characters with a high base star count are significantly rarer than heroes that can be summoned with 2 stars. You will find soul stones for the 5-star base unit Astroblast much less frequently than for Wham-Shell, who has only 2 stars as a starting value.

This leads to the fact that it is almost impossible to level up rare units to the maximum level, as you have no way to collect the needed soul stones. Instead, you must use the summoning portal, which, however, is not a viable path for free-to-play players (F2P), as you do not find enough jewels (the real-money currency in Skylanders: Ring of Heroes) and should use them elsewhere anyway.

However, there are enough Skylanders that you can really farm without having to push your luck. But which heroes are good? We show you a selection of heroes from various roles and elements that you can easily bring to the highest level with a bit of patience, where they won’t have to hide behind the other top heroes.

Note: This is not a representation of the absolute best units in the game. Top heroes like Astroblast, Buckshot, or Knight Mare hide behind a gigantic paywall, which F2P players may not even be able to break through for months. The heroes listed here are also presented in random order.

Ka-Boom – Explosions, Baby!

Why is Ka-Boom so good: Ka-Boom can not only achieve high attack values but also make his opponents explode, causing massive bonus damage after a few rounds. This makes the unit an excellent choice in longer boss fights. However, all of his other attacks are also specially efficient at high levels and hit more than one opponent.

Where can I find the soul stones for Ka-Boom? The best thing about Ka-Boom is undoubtedly the fact that you can farm his soul stones relatively easily and early in the game. To bring Ka-Boom to the awakened form with the maximum of 6 stars, you need a whopping 1175 soul stones, but these can also be farmed swiftly with a mediocre team.

To do this, go to world 3 (Hellish Volcano) in stages 3.1 to 3.6 on normal difficulty. You unlock this once you defeat the boss on the easy difficulty. Use a strong water or tech unit, as these are particularly effective against the fire monsters there. Use auto-battle to speed up the process.

By the way, it is sufficient to farm mission 3.1. The obtained soul stones are completely random and do not differ between 3.1 and 3.6. However, the enemies in 3.1 are easier to defeat and therefore speed up the farming process.

How long does it take to farm all the soul stones: To obtain 1175 soul stones, you need to farm approximately 52 hours and invest 15,600 energy at an average of 3 soul stones per ten battles. After all, you also receive soul stones for the villain Smoke Scream, whom you can definitely fully upgrade as soon as you have gathered all the soul stones for Ka-Boom.

Boomer – Ka-Boom’s Wingman

Why is Boomer so good: Like Ka-Boom, Boomer is a unit specializing in explosions. Accordingly, both units harmonize well together. As a bonus, Boomer can even increase the attack value of all allied units.
