The best books if you want to know what is currently happening in Warhammer 40,000
The majority of current events in Warhammer 40,000 take place towards the end of the 41st millennium. By now, we are already in the 42nd millennium, Roboute Guilliman has returned and is currently leading the Imperium.
However, war reigns everywhere in the world, and the galaxy is vast, making it nearly impossible to have a complete picture of all the details. We have picked out some of the most important events.
1. Dawn of Fire
The Dawn of Fire series summarizes pretty much everything there is to know about the lore and stories from the previous edition of the Warhammer tabletop, packaging it into exciting stories.
The 9 books and spin-off primarily tell the journey of Roboute Guilliman but also shed light on different areas of the world, such as some of the many Orders of Space Marines. The first volume is “The Avenging Son.”
2. The Dark Imperium
Guy Haley’s trilogy tells you about the most current events you can currently experience in the world of Warhammer 40,000. After Roboute Guilliman’s return, he first wants to clean up the galaxy, starting with his brother Mortarion.
The first volume of the trilogy serves as the eponymous novel, and additionally, there is a short story titled “His Will” which serves as a prequel to the story.
3. Gaunt’s Ghosts
If you are not interested in pumped-up super-soldiers, you should take a look at the book series by Dan Abnett. Gaunt’s Ghosts tells the story of the eponymous elite unit from the ranks of the Astra Militarum under Commissar Ibrahim Gaunt.
However, one problem with the series is the German translation, which some fans claim is flawed. Many thus recommend the English original.
