Rank 2: Death Guard
The Death Guard was originally founded as Dusk Raiders as one of the first Orders of the Space Marines and renamed during the Brother War. Today they worship the Chaos God Nurgle.
Due to their connection to Nurgle, the Death Guard is also one of the strongest traitor legions. The Chaos God not only represents disease and decay but also burgeoning life and the cycle of life and death.

Accordingly, the Plague Marines of the Death Guard bear countless diseases in their decaying and decayed bodies, even in their armor and weapons, but they are hardly killable. There are few beings in Warhammer 40,000 that are as resilient as the Chaos Space Marines of this legion.
Like the Word Bearers, the Death Guard has never shattered, and through the strong sense of tradition of their Primarch Mortarion, they are still an organized unit. This makes them the second strongest traitor legion in the ranking, surpassed only by a numerically superior legion.
However, the Death Guard has one weakness. Their diseases and decay are actually a “blessing,” but Nurgle is also the god of despair with a dark secret. Whenever a Plague Marine has a “clear” moment when Nurgle does not fill him with childlike joy, he is filled with horror at what he has become.
