The Critical Role crew is the biggest streamer of Dungeons & Dragons and has just started their fourth campaign. Before that, however, they completed three campaigns, which we rank here according to the preferences of our editorial team.
Who are the biggest D&D streamers? The biggest streamers of Dungeons & Dragons is the Critical Role team. With over 2.47 million YouTube subscribers, 1.4 million Twitch followers, and a whole lot of companies around them, the voice actors have really gained quite a bit of fame since their start in 2015.
In addition to the Netflix series Stranger Things, Critical Role is considered a main reason for the worldwide increase in popularity and enthusiasm for tabletop RPGs, especially Dungeons & Dragons. They are now so well-known that they hold live shows worldwide, publish their own games, sell merchandise, and publish books, comics, and more.
How did the ranking come about? This ranking is based solely on the preferences of the MeinMMO editorial team, mainly our editors Alexander Alex
Mehrwald (watching since 2020), Caroline Caro
Fuller (watching since 2021), and Sophia Weiß (watching since 2017). We have been following Critical Role for several years and have watched all three campaigns in full.
Accordingly, we sat down together, discussed stories, philosophized about characters, and came to this ranking. However, it was also important to us how easy it is for new viewers to get into the completed campaigns.
However, if you have a completely different opinion, we are of course happy to receive your comments.
Honorable Mentions
Campaign 4
On the night of October 2nd to 3rd, 2025, the fourth campaign of Critical Role started. For the first time, long-time DM Matt Mercer hands over the reins for a long campaign to Brennan Lee Mulligan and starts as a player.
If you’ve never seen a single episode of Critical Role, you can start the campaign right on time here. Whether and how good it will be, we can’t say at this point. Unfortunately, this ranking was created before we could take a look at the first episode ourselves, and even then, the first episode wouldn’t be enough to assess the quality.
After the premiere via Twitch and YouTube, the current episode can only be watched on the Critical Role streaming service Beacon until Monday. A subscription is required for that.

Exandria Unlimited
Exandria Unlimited consists of several small, but not year-long mini-campaigns. Here, the cast of Critical Role also changes: Matt Mercer steps down as DM. In each of the currently four mini-series, players from the main cast participate, but many new faces also find a place at the table.
Exandria Unlimited: Calamity (4 episodes) is Mulligan’s first guest appearance as Dungeon Master and takes place at the very beginning of the timeline of Critical Role’s world. Exandria Unlimited: Divergence (4 episodes) loosely continues Calamity, again with Brennan Lee Mulligan at the helm.
The adventure originally played first in the Exandria Unlimited universe was led by Aabria Iyengar: Exandria Unlimited Prime. In eight episodes, the Crown Keepers
(translated as Crown Guardians
) experience adventures that partially transition into the third major campaign of Bell’s Hells. Part of the team returns in the two episodes Exandria Unlimited: Kymal, which Iyengar has also taken over as DM.
Our tip: If you want to dip your toes into Critical Role, Exandria Unlimited: Calamity is a good choice, as it provides a nice insight into D&D as entertainment. You also get to know the first parts of the main cast. Committing to four episodes is also worlds easier than to the sometimes over 100 episodes of the main campaigns – which we will now come to in the ranking on the next page.
But enough of the long preamble – let’s move on to page 2 for rank 3!
