Lady Liadrin – Protector of the Sunwell
Lady Liadrin was a priestess of the Light among the High Elves before the city was attacked by Arthas and the Scourge. After many Elves from Liadrin’s circle died during the Scourge attack, and the Sunwell was defiled, Liadrin lost her connection to the Light.
Only with the return of Prince Kael’thas was a new option revealed to her. One in which she could never abandon the Light again: she would take it by force.
The High Elves, who were then renewed as “Blood Elves,” had captured a Naaru and began binding Liadrin and her most loyal followers to him. Without the virtues of the Light such as warmth or compassion, the Light of the Naaru was simply used as a tool of power and led to the Blood Knights of Silvermoon becoming feared and respected elite fighters who were not inferior to the Paladins of the Alliance.
After the death of Prince Kael’thas and the subsequent cleansing of the Sunwell at the end of “The Burning Crusade,” Liadrin regained her original connection to the Light and regretted her actions and what she and her subordinates had done to the Naaru.
By now, Liadrin has found her connection to the Light again and exists as a “regular” Paladin in harmony with the Light. However, she remains the matriarch of the Blood Knights and therefore one of the supreme commanders of the Blood Elf elite forces, who have lost little of their power, even if the source has shifted once more.
Liadrin sees herself as a protector of Quel’thalas and as a guardian of the renewed Sunwell. A task that will certainly be of great importance in the near future.
