Katakuri

Who is this? Charlotte Katakuri is one of the commanders of the Big Mom Pirates and the strongest fighter in her crew. As the second son of Big Mom, he holds a special status within the family and is respected by his siblings. Katakuri possesses the Mochi Fruit, a special Paramecia Devil Fruit that allows him to shape his body like sticky mochi and even use Logia-like abilities.
His grand appearance takes place in the Whole Cake Island Saga, where he serves as Luffy’s most powerful opponent. Not only is he extremely strong, but he also possesses a perfectly trained Observation Haki that allows him to glimpse slightly into the future – a tremendous advantage in battle. The epic showdown between him and Luffy in the Mirror World is one of the best fights in the entire series.
Why is Katakuri so cool? Katakuri is one of the most impressive and respectable opponents Luffy has ever encountered:
- He is the strongest commander of the Big Mom Pirates and is considered “invincible.” No one has ever seen him on the ground – until Luffy shows up.
- His Haki is incredibly strong: His Observation Haki is so good that he can foresee attacks, and his Armament Haki is nearly unbeatable.
- He forces Luffy to develop a completely new fighting technique: To stand up to him, Luffy must elevate his Observation Haki to a new level and develop a new form of Gear 4 (Snakeman).
- He shows respect for Luffy: Although he initially seems arrogant, he acknowledges Luffy’s determination during the fight. In the end, he deliberately lets himself fall to no longer appear “perfect.”
Katakuri is more than just an opponent – he is one of the few enemies that Luffy truly respects and sees as an equal. His fighting prowess and unexpected personality make him one of the best characters in One Piece.
Luffy’s opponents are not only strong but often unpredictable. However, his rivals are also formidable.
