Magellan

Who is this? Magellan is the former chief warden of the high-security prison Impel Down and one of the most feared foes that Luffy has ever encountered. He possesses the Poison Fruit, a Paramecia Devil Fruit that allows him to create extremely deadly poison and envelop his entire body with it. Anyone who touches him risks a painful poisoning.
His grand appearance occurs in the Impel Down Saga when Luffy breaks into the prison to save his brother Ace. However, Magellan proves to be nearly invincible – Luffy stands no chance against him and is defeated in no time. Only with Ivankov’s help does he survive the poisoning.
Later, Luffy must confront Magellan a second time. But even then, Magellan remains an almost insurmountable obstacle.
Why is Magellan so cool? Although Magellan doesn’t play a major role after Impel Down, he remains one of the most intimidating foes that Luffy has ever faced. Hardly anyone has ever defeated him as brutally as he did:
- He is the first opponent against whom Luffy has absolutely no chance – he loses completely and nearly dies.
- His Poison Fruit is incredibly powerful and makes him one of the most dangerous characters in the series.
- He perfectly embodies the unstoppable power of Impel Down – once you are there, you don’t get out easily.
Although Magellan is an antagonist, he is not a classic villain. Magellan is not a tyrant or criminal, but simply someone who is doing his duty.
