In Helldivers 2 there have been many escapades that players and developers alike had to endure. The latest debacle is the discussion around nerfs and buffs regarding the weapons. Arrowhead is taking the scythe to all the players’ guns, but now something is supposed to change.
Why is the community in an uproar? In Helldivers 2, players are fed up. New war bonds were supposed to bring fans new weapons and goodies they can use in the fight against the enemies of democracy. Unfortunately, a large part of these tools are useless or poorly made and are not worth it in combat. Arrowhead itself is to blame.
Many of their weapons are depicted attractively and powerfully in trailers and announcements, but when the war bond is out and fans have spent money on it, they get nerfed weeks later. Players are now tired of it and want to feel powerful.
More buffs than nerfs are to be implemented. And to make this happen, the head of Arrowhead is personally taking care of it.
The head is personally taking care of ‘Balancing’
What has been revealed? On Discord, the topic ‘Balancing’ is being hotly debated. Many are not satisfied and want to use cool guns that leave an impression on enemies. For this reason, the developer Evil-Bosse has spoken out.
Evil states that the team is currently discussing ‘Balancing’, thanks to Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead. Here’s what Evil-Bosse has to say: “Our CEO is making great internal efforts for balancing, many meetings and many conversations are taking place.”
What exactly is being discussed is not yet known, but Pilestedt himself acknowledges that whenever something fun is added, the fun is removed again through nerfs. So it’s only a matter of time before Arrowhead unveils its big buffs.
How satisfied is the community right now? Not particularly satisfied. Arrowhead regularly conducts surveys on Discord to find out the current mood and opinions of the community. Again, the developers are asking you what you think of the new war bond “Polar Patriots” and the following results have been collected so far (as of 1:34 PM on May 4):
- It’s great!
- 3 % with 1,794 votes
- It’s okay, but I want more stuff in each war bond.
- 11 % with 5,830 votes
- It’s okay, but I want fewer war bonds and more patches.
- 27 % with 14,631 votes
- It’s okay, but the items don’t fit the theme for me.
- 14 % with 7,677 votes
- I don’t like it.
- 45 % with 24,395 votes
While 27 % of the 54,346 total votes express that they want more patches, 45 % clearly state that they are not satisfied. The mood is clearly recognizable: it can’t go on like this. On May 14, Arrowhead released its new patch 01.000.304, but this only brought minor bug fixes and no buffs for weapons. Players will have to wait a bit longer.
