In Helldivers 2 you currently only fight against robots and bugs, while the new enemies are already in the game. A leak now shows how they look.
What are the players waiting for? For new enemies. Since the cooperative shooter was released in February 2024, the brave Helldivers have exclusively been fighting against bugs and robots. There have been multiple hints that we might get a new enemy faction with the Illuminated in the game.
The Illuminated are an alien civilization that also appeared in Helldivers 1 and fought against the Over-Earth.
Players have been waiting for the Illuminated for months. Not only because they have already seen blue lasers. Also, because they are losing fun fighting against robots and bugs. In July, for example, one player wrote on Reddit: “I plan to return when new factions come. I am tired of defending the same planets and fighting the same two factions.”
What kind of leak is this? A user on Reddit shared a screenshot showing an Illuminated. The leaker is a so-called data miner. He accesses the data already in the game and shares the information obtained from it.

According to the leaker, the shown Illuminated is a “Tripod”. They also existed in Helldivers 1. Tripods are three-legged machines that attacked at close range using electricity in Helldivers 1 and had medium armor. They also operated in groups of 3 to 5.
How reliable is the leak? A leak is not official information, the accuracy of which has been confirmed. While the Helldivers leaker has already proven to be accurate in the past months, you should not view the information as confirmed fact.
