Helldivers 2 is so popular that the servers are already overloaded on the second weekend after launch and players are having trouble getting into the game, as they complain on reddit. However, the developers are already working on a solution.
The new co-op shooter Helldivers 2 has become a surprise hit on Steam and PS5. Lots of shooter fans wanted to play the new co-op game this weekend, causing Helldivers 2 to break its own all-time record for concurrent players on Steam.
However, this has now led to server issues: Players on reddit complained that they cannot get into Helldivers 2. Now the developers promise that they are already working on a solution.

What did the community say? Several users posted a photo with the error message that the servers are currently full.
Additionally, many players complained that they are currently being denied access to Helldivers 2. Other users, however, took it with humor.

How many players are playing Helldivers 2? Since the shooter has been released for both PC and PS5, not all player numbers can be viewed.
However, the data on SteamDB alone suggests how many people are playing the game this weekend. Helldivers 2 reached its all-time peak on Steam of 333,827 players in-game 16 hours ago. (As of: February 18, 2024, 12:51)
On X.com, on February 17, 2024, the developer studio Arrowhead Game Studios spoke out.
The developers explained that they tried to increase the server capacity to accommodate all players.
However, there are still capacity problems. They are already working on fixing the issue and hope to find a solution as soon as possible.
Additionally, there was an update today via Discord that the servers have now been capped at 450,000 players:
“Last night there were issues with the server as a large number of players were in the game at the same time. This caused some mission payouts to fail, some players were thrown back to their ships or logged out.
Our team is working around the clock to resolve these issues. While we have been able to mitigate some of the causes, we still have problems keeping pace with the scaling needed to accommodate all Helldivers.
Therefore, we had to limit the number of concurrent players to about 450,000 to further improve server stability. We will continue to work with our partners to increase the cap.
If you are having issues with game progress, please restart the game so that everything can be synchronized again. We thank you for your patience.“
