The campaign around the cyborgs on Cyberstan in Helldivers 2 is heading for the final stretch. In one last attempt, the Helldivers are to give it all they have, but hope is fading.
What is this new mission about? After the Helldivers did not successfully complete the last mission in Helldivers 2, Übererde is now calling the elite unit to a desperate final assault. In an “All or Nothing” scenario, the Helldivers must try to take down the cyborg mega-factory.
But the odds are slim: Unlike before, the Helldivers are receiving no further reinforcements from the developers this time. The time constraint for the operation is therefore not the real difficulty.
There is a global counter for the remaining Helldivers that is ticking down. If it reaches zero, the invasion of Cyberstan will likely be considered a failure. Yet, the once brave Helldivers seem dejected.
Here you can watch the trailer for the current expansion: “Machinery of Oppression”:
Bad morale among the Helldivers
Why are players feeling pessimistic? The invasion of Cyberstan is backed against the wall. With the limited units, it can already be calculated that by February 21, rather February 20, 2026, all reinforcements will be used up (Source: helldiverscompanion.com).
Then the invasion will have failed, even though players will have had some time for the mission. Even the performance of players seems not to improve. Veterans criticize other players for not playing effectively enough to advance the mission. Others blame hackers as well.
The news of limited reinforcements takes away the last bit of hope, as the comments on Reddit show:
- taoofthemachine: “This looks kinda bleak, guys…. not gonna lie.”
- Dr_VidyaGeam: “Alright, it’s time to focus. If you’re anywhere other than Star Kield, get there right now. We’re not getting any more help. Either we unite and pull through, or it was all for nothing.”
- Terra854: “Well, I guess that’s GG for us.”
- Crimson3899 emphasizes in another post on Reddit: “It’s frustrating that we are basically being told we’ve lost, and this days in advance. If they only had a cycle of smaller MOs to replenish our numbers, that might be plausible. But now? I don’t even want to try anymore.”
Even though there are still motivated players, the once joyful community is dejected. For the Helldivers, only a real Hollywood ending remains to succeed in the invasion, otherwise consequences could follow.
What consequences will follow? What exactly will happen if the Helldivers cannot successfully complete the invasion is still unclear, but there are some theories. Übererde will retake the planet for a later invasion, namely when more reinforcements are available again.
At the same time, the Helldivers must brace for the new cyborg enemies to join the “normal” robotic foes, making missions surrounding the automatons considerably harder than before.
It is rare for the Helldivers to fail to complete such an important operation. The last time this happened was during the construction of the space station. That failure also went down in history. Why it will become so difficult without the developers, you can find out here: Without the developers, players would be hopelessly doomed in Helldivers 2, yet it still doesn’t look good
