You are happily farming your medals in Helldivers 2, but not getting any more credited to your account? Then you have probably reached the Medal Cap. You can find out how high the cap is set and how you can still recover your lost medals here.
What is the Medal Cap? In Helldivers 2, every Helldiver has a bank where your currencies and resources are collected – including your medals. However, at some point, you will notice that no additional earned medals are credited to your bank, and there is a good reason for that: the Medal Cap.
The Medal Cap or the medal limit is a limit that determines how many medals you can store in your bank. In Helldivers 2, the maximum number of your medals is set at 250.
If you try to exceed the limit, your medals will not be credited and will be considered “lost.” As frustrating as it may be, there is a way to retrieve your lost medals.

How to get your lost medals
This is what you need to do: In Helldivers 2, it may happen that you do not get medals from general orders or personal orders paid out when you have reached the limit. To still benefit from the payout, you only need to spend your medals.
Our MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos also reached the 250-limit with his medals and wondered about the lack of payment from Over-Earth. However, after he invested a large part of his savings in one of the war bonds, he received the three rewards from the robot operation after a few days of waiting.
Whether payments from missions are also saved is not known and we could not test it so far. However, if you have had experience with this, feel free to share your knowledge with other Helldivers in the comments.
What do you need medals for? You need medals to unlock rewards from war bonds. Otherwise, these sparkling souvenirs have no value. If you have already played through all the war bonds, it is worth accumulating a small buffer of medals so you can immediately buy the things you want at the release of the upcoming war bond.
The next war bond is called “Democratic Detonations”: What you should know about the content can be found in our overview.
