In Helldivers 2 gives very little space for cosmetic gear. The more combat missions a Helldiver has experienced, the dirtier he becomes. Accordingly, capes are both rare and special. Now there is supposed to be a new one.
What kind of cloak is this? The second anniversary of Helldivers 2 was on February 8, 2026, and the developers are giving away a new cloak for this occasion. The cape is named “Eye of Liberty” and features a golden skull as a symbol, behind which a secret is hidden.

A secret for two players
What is this secret? If the print of the skull looks familiar, you are right. An almost identical pattern, just reversed, was already present for the first anniversary of Helldivers 2. The cloak back then was named “Eye of Freedom” and displayed a silver skull.
However, if you team up with a friend and bring the two capes side by side, a complete skull is formed from the two halves. It’s also conceivable that the developers will include an Easter egg for this case, such as a certain voice line, but whether that is the case is still unknown.

How do you get the skin? Although the new cape is available for free to all players, there is a requirement to unlock the cosmetic item. As it is a birthday gift, players must log into Helldivers 2 between February 1 and February 28, 2026.
Once that is done, according to the developers’ statement on X.com, the cloak should be received on March 2. A time for when the cape arrives is currently unknown. It is also unknown whether logging in, as mentioned in the developers’ post, is really sufficient, or whether at least a simple mission must be played to obtain the cloak.
Although players will surely be excited about the new cape, the similarity to last year’s cloak is not very creative, which leaves hope that there will at least be a special voice line when the two capes meet.
