Helldivers 2 is so popular that the servers are completely overloaded with the numerous players. However, with the new patch, a new feature has been integrated to help ensure that AFK players no longer clog up the game.
Helldivers 2 is an extremely successful co-op shooter on Steam and PS5. However, the massive influx led to full servers, leaving many players unable to join the game without long wait times.
Once players finally made it into the game, many apparently did not want to give up their spot.
As a result, many stayed AFK in Helldivers 2 for hours or even entire days, just to avoid getting stuck in a queue again.

New patch frees the servers from AFK players
However, a new update is now set to counter this strategy and kick absent players out of Helldivers 2 after a certain period of inactivity to create more room for those who are actually playing.
What kind of update is this? On February 22, 2024, patch 1.000.11 was released for Helldivers 2, which brought various fixes. The patch notes were fully published on Steam.
Among the problem resolutions, there is also a feature that kicks players from the game to the title screen if they have been inactive for more than 15 minutes.
This addresses player feedback as such a feature had been requested multiple times within the community.
What else did the patch bring? Additionally, there are further bug fixes and crash resolutions. For example, crashes should be prevented when players enter another’s ship or when exiting the aiming perspective.
Also, a problem where certain online missions were not selectable on the “Galactic War” map will be resolved by the update.
Furthermore, issues that occurred in conjunction with GameGuard and the Windows Firewall have also been addressed.
