In Helldivers 2, PlayStation 5 and PC players fight against nasty threats alike, but did you know that the console players among you are getting a significant buff? We will show you what buff is meant and whether PC players can also benefit from it.
What kind of buff is it? Players have spent many hours on the contaminated planet of distant systems and discovered that PS5 and PC players do not have the same advantages in combat as once thought. The Twitch streamer Maplewood was one of the first to notice this because, according to him, console players receive a buff when fighting enemies. The buff causes your weapons to deal much higher damage than those of PC players.
According to him, acid titans can be eliminated on the PS5 with 3 shots from a railgun, while PC players fire their half reserves at the boss and it still happily strolls around. Despite the unfair buff distribution, there is a way for PC players to also obtain this damage buff.
Never seen an acid titan? Then we have the right video for it:
Watch out for a console host
How do PC players get the buff? In a clip on Twitch, Maplewood explains again his finding and how players on the PC platform can also benefit from it.
We have embedded the clip here:
He states that PC players need to ensure that the host of the group is from the PS5. If that’s the case, all group members, whether console or PC, receive the buff of the console players. However, if you join a PC host as a console player, you will not receive the buff in the lobby. The buff is therefore transferred to all players in the lobby depending on the host’s platform.
If you are the only one with a PS5 in your friend group and you’re annoyed by the enemies that just soak up your bullets, offer to host for future missions; your friends will definitely thank you for it.
Why is there such a buff? This has yet to be clarified. PC players have no advantage over console players in this regard, except maybe for faster typing and calling their tactical gear. It can only be speculated whether the developers wanted to make it easier for console players to start the game with this buff.
If the development team comments on this, we will adjust and update this part of our post.
What do you think about the buff? Have you also felt in some rounds that your enemies just soaked up your bullets? Let us know in the comments!
