Helldivers 2 is set to receive its biggest update yet in August. This will finally bring new enemies and a new difficulty level.
Recently, it had been quiet around Helldivers 2. The co-op shooter experienced a small slump on Steam, with player numbers shrinking and shrinking. Now, the developers have announced a new update, and it is said to be the biggest one for the game so far.
What kind of update is this? Helldivers 2 will get its biggest update for the co-op shooter on August 6, 2024. The update will be released under the title: “Escalation of Freedom” and will bring, among other things, new enemies and a new difficulty level.
This content is coming with the new update:
- New difficulty level: Level 10 – Super Helldive
- New mission objectives and larger enemy outposts of robots and bugs
- offer new opportunities to collect Super Samples
- New enemies – Bugs
- The Impaler
- Spore Charger
- Alpha Commander
- New enemies – Robots
- Rocket Tank
- A new version of the swamp environment
- A new system that places you as the host into a new lobby and allows you to keep your loot if you are kicked by griefers

New Bugs and Robots, but no new faction?
Is a new faction also coming? The announcement for the upcoming update does not mention a new faction. As of now, we cannot assume that a new hostile group will appear with the update.
The players of Helldivers 2 have been expecting the arrival of the Illuminated for months. Alternatively, the Cyborgs could appear. Some players believe that they are the masters of the robots.
However, even though no new faction is mentioned in the announcement, it cannot be ruled out that the Illuminated will appear with the upcoming update. At the end of the trailer, the developers clearly state that they have not shown all the content of “Escalation of Freedom” yet. There are supposed to be some surprises.
