Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was a huge success on Steam earlier this year. Many fans are hoping for a sequel, but a message from the lead actor sounds like his story is over.
The role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was one of the first big hits of the gaming year 2025 on Steam in February. The massive success of the game practically begs for a sequel, and even though the developers at Warhorse are still working on the 3 DLCs that are set to be released later this year, fans are already speculating about a possible third installment.
However, a post from Tom McKay, who embodies the protagonist Heinrich, is causing unrest among fans, and it all comes down to a single word.
What did the actor write? On April 2, 2025, McKay published studio footage of himself in full costume. He wrote: “My last day ever on the motion capture stage @ Warhorse Studios for Kingdom Come: Deliverance” followed by a crying emoji.
The official account of the role-playing game replied to the post with a sad emoji and a heart.
This could simply mean that the filming of his role for the upcoming DLCs is complete. However, the unassuming word “ever” sounds to some fans as if it could be the final conclusion of the RPG series.
Accordingly, the tone in the comments reflects this:
- Vittek: “I don’t like the word ‘ever’ in this post, Tom. I’m sure it’s only until KCD3, yes! Or??” (via X)
- Otakar Schön: “I pressed the ‘Like’ button with sadness and hope that your words won’t come true. […]” (via X)
- Tom: “Tom, I’ll just pretend all of this is fake and that you’re making KCD3… but seriously, thank you for playing such an incredible character so well.” (via X)
Another possible interpretation could be that Kingdom Come: Deliverance continues, but without Heinrich, whose story could very well be considered concluded with the end of the second part.
Perhaps McKay actually meant that his part in KCD2 is definitively over with the completion of filming. By the way, the colleagues at GameStar have summarized the chances of a successor for you.
Unlike other role-playing games where you create a character or even an entire party to your preferences, in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you take on the role of an existing character with Heinrich – although you can influence the game’s storyline and your relationships with the NPCs.
This makes the actors of the characters an important part of the gaming experience, which is why some fans follow them on social networks outside of the game. An actor from Kingdom Come: Deliverance proudly showcases the role-playing game on Twitch – But he plays the completely wrong version
