In Destiny 2, Bungie has introduced a comfort item with Forsaken that is likely to bring a lot of joy to Guardians. The Raid Banner takes away some of the frustrations of raiding and gives players a better version of the beloved “Heavy Syntheses” back.
What is the problem? Since the “Vault of Glass”, Destiny players have had an annoying issue during raids. When all players are dead, they respawn, but they do not have Super energy or heavy ammo if they had previously used them in a tough fight.
Heavy weapons and Guardians’ Supers are the top ways to deal damage to bosses. Therefore, energy and ammo are extremely important to have a chance in the next boss fight, the point where you originally failed.
How have players coped so far? For a long time, players have practiced so-called “Ammo Runs”: They would run around, kill mobs to charge up their Super and collect heavy ammo. Then they would intentionally kill themselves to start a new attempt under optimal conditions.
This was a pretty annoying practice that wasted time.
When players did not have the opportunity for a so-called “Ammo Run”, they consumed huge amounts of “heavy Syntheses” that they had previously bought from Xur. With these Syntheses, they loaded heavy ammo to get their artillery ready. But the Tentacle Greed merchant has long since stopped selling those Syntheses.
What is the solution now? With Forsaken, a new item is available for 5,000 Glimmer or three legendary Shards in the Dreaming City. You can purchase it from a vendor there.
The item is a “Raid Banner”. Each one can be placed once. When the banner is clicked, players receive full Super energy and heavy ammo. They work like the banners at Public Events.
The Raid Banner seems to be an elegant solution for a problem that players have struggled with in Destiny so far.
