The arena of Hearthstone is once again changing. Death Knights are banned from the arena.
The arena mode of Hearthstone is very popular among most players. However, some cards consistently cause frustration and bad feelings, like the recently mentioned Malevolent Youngling. Anyone who had this card in their deck could almost plan for victory right away. For this reason, the card was banned from the arena a few weeks ago.
Now more cards are following – nine in total. All Death Knight hero cards will be removed from the arena!
In plain language, this means the removal of the following cards:
- Malfurion the Pestilent
- Deathstalker Rexxar
- Frost Lich Jaina
- Uther of the Ebon Blade
- Shadowreaper Anduin
- Valeera the Hollow
- Deathseer Thrall
- Bloodreaver Gul’dan
- Scourge Lord Garrosh
The reason for the removal of the Death Knight cards is that the permanent upgrades of the hero power in the arena are too powerful. There are hardly any options to counter this with an ordinary arena deck – unless you also draw a Death Knight yourself.
The corresponding patch will go live today, on November 14, 2017, in America. It will likely follow in the late evening hours here in Europe.
Cortyn says: Honestly, I don’t think the removal of these cards is a good idea. The arena has never been a place of fairness. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The more of these powerful cards are removed, the less fun it is for me because I was always really excited when I drew a Death Knight – or frustrated when the opponent had one. For more chaos in the arena!
What do you think about these cards being removed from the arena? Does it increase your desire for this mode? Or does it make Hearthstone rather boring?
There is currently a free card in Hearthstone – and it’s quite powerful!
