A nasty combo in Hearthstone makes the opponent draw 48 cards and lose immediately. It doesn’t get any more cruel than this, even in UNO!
In Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone, many funny and sometimes absurd card combinations have emerged over the years. Some of these “OTK combos” feel really unfair, while others are just funny. An interesting combo was recently showcased by the streamer MarkMcKz. He forces the opponent to draw so many cards that they effectively lose instantly.
What can be seen? MarkMcKz demonstrates in the stream how he forces his opponent to draw 48 cards in the “wild” game mode. Since a deck only contains 30 cards, the player takes damage every time they need to draw a card but can’t. This damage starts small but increases by 1 with each card.
The end result is that the opposing rogue perishes with -609 health points. They are more than 20 times their health points in the negative range.

This is how the combo works
How to achieve the combo? In order for this devastating combo to work, certain conditions must be met. Your own deck must be completely empty and the costs of minions in hand must be heavily reduced through multiple effects. Then MarkMcKz proceeds as follows:
- He plays a Cyborg Elekk: When he shuffles cards into his deck, an additional copy is shuffled into the deck.
- Next is Octosari: Upon its deathrattle, Octosari draws a whopping 8 cards.
- Then the rogue spell Shadow of Death: You choose a minion and shuffle 3 shadows into your deck. When the shadows are drawn, a copy of that minion is summoned.
- Thanks to the Cyborg Elekk, the number of shadows is copied – resulting in 6 being shuffled into the deck.
- Next comes King Togwaggle: The effect swaps the two players’ decks. So now the opponent has the deck with the 6 shadows.
- Finally, you use Shadowstep to return your own Octosari to your hand so that it doesn’t trigger.
Once you end your turn, the opponent is forced to draw one of the shadows and summons an Octosari. This repeats 5 more times, so by the end of the turn, the opponent has 6 Octosari on the battlefield. In theory, that’s 48 damage, but the Octosari can only attack in the next turn.
As soon as MarkMcKz’s turn comes again, he plays Flik Skyshiv and destroys one Octosari. His effect ensures that all Octosari in play are destroyed, forcing the rogue to immediately draw 48 cards – which he cannot survive.
Is the combo easy to achieve? No. Almost the entire deck has to aim for this combo, and all effects must trigger correctly for it to succeed. But when it does work, victory is basically guaranteed. Additionally, there are druids with more than 2,000 armor who might be able to survive such a combo…
What do you think about such combos? A cool thing or should something like this not be possible at all?
