At BlizzCon, the new Hearthstone expansion will be revealed. But what setting do you actually wish for?
Many rumors are circulating about what the next expansion for Hearthstone might be. The only hint has been a bag full of gold – which leaves many possibilities open. Here, we briefly outline the 3 most common theories and afterwards want to know from you which of these expansions you would prefer thematically!
Booty Bay – Pirates and Lots of Treasures
The currently most likely theory is a pirate expansion focusing on the pirate city Booty Bay and the South Seas Buccaneers. Booty Bay is certainly a shady place in Azeroth, where not only pirates but also many exiles meet who engage in their not-so-lawful activities. This makes the harbor city, with a beach right outside, a perfect place for all sorts of mischief.
Rebellious gangs of privateers who wouldn’t share the mead with each other would provide a good setting for story missions.
Of course, there would be plenty of new pirate cards that not only warriors could enjoy.
Kezan Island – The Trade Empire of the Goblins
When thinking of gold coins, one must also directly think of goblins in the context of Warcraft and Hearthstone. There is still a lot of lore that can be tapped into which has hardly been mentioned in the MMORPG.
Kezan Island and the associated city of Undermine offer plenty of space for goblins and their shady customers. At the same time, there are plenty of devices that could explode – because goblins love explosions. With various trade princes, there would also be opportunities for cool conflicts in the story missions.
Or does this scenario remind too much of Goblins VS. Gnomes and therefore get excluded?
The Darkmoon Faire
When it comes to gold coins, hardly any visitor from Azeroth is as generous as at the Darkmoon Faire. It is notable that the fair has yet to appear in any form in Hearthstone, which makes this setting very appealing. Since all races and cultures are represented at the fair and dark dealings often take place in secrecy, this would be the perfect opportunity to open the fair in Hearthstone as well.
Silas Darkmoon, the head of the fair, would also be a charismatic figure to guide us through many story missions where we need to eliminate the problems of the fair. Be it customers unwilling to pay or getting rid of corpses that “just happen” to appear…
