Ben Brode reveals why there are no test realms for Hearthstone and what has happened to the Warlock’s demons.
A PTR would take the excitement out of the cards
On Reddit, some players wondered why the developers of Hearthstone are so silent while their colleagues from Overwatch are actively engaging with fans. Ben Brode could not let that go and explained that he tries to connect with players as often as possible through Twitter, Reddit, or his streams on Twitch. He proved this by answering several community questions in the last few days.
Why no new demons for Warlocks?
Many players wondered why “Whispers of the Old Gods” did not add any new demons for Warlocks and feared that this concept might simply be abandoned. Brode reassured here that demons are a “core aspect” of the Warlock and the decision not to add demons in the latest expansion may have been a mistake. In the future, there will be more demons.
No test realms for Hearthstone
The reason there are no public test realms for Hearthstone is quite simple. It would mean that the cards would have to be made available to players beforehand. In previous years, both the developers and the community would have enjoyed seeing new cards “piece by piece” revealed over several weeks before an expansion. They want to continue this tradition.
Priest – too weak or undiscovered?
Another problem players see with the Priest in its current form. Many pros consider it “unplayable” and the “casual” playerbase is also having little fun with the Priest right now. Brode reveals that the team is currently considering how to improve the Priest, but also suggests that the “really strong” Priest decks have simply not been found yet. This was often the case in previous expansions, as with the Mech-Warrior, which only had its heyday much later.
