The packs of the new Hearthstone expansion are bugged. Players should hold off on opening them.
Update: The issue has since been fixed and players in America have received 33% of their opened packs as a bonus. Before the game went live in Europe, the hotfix was already applied on our end – so there is no compensation for us since we lost nothing.
Original report:
The new Hearthstone expansion, “Mean Streets of Gadgetzan”, has already been released in America, and it quickly encountered a medium-level problem.
Many players are reporting in the official forums about “irregularities” when opening the new MSOG packs (“Mean Streets of Gadgetzan”).
The card packs seem to be bugged and exhibit a particularly high chance of containing cards from the various “gangs” (Cabals, Jade Lotus, and Gangsaw). Other “neutral” cards are seen rather rarely.
Blizzard is aware of this issue and is working tirelessly to fix the problem.
Until the issue is resolved, players should hold off and not open any packs of the new expansion – unless they want to get especially many cards from the gangs.
Whether there will be a “refund” for the already opened packs is questionable. So if anyone wants to play it safe, they should restrain their spending both with real money and gold until the developers give the all-clear and restore the “normal” distribution of the packs.
However, it is quite possible that this incident will delay the release of the expansion in Europe – that should actually happen in a few hours.
Cortyn says: Annoying, but at least we now have the advantage that expansions in Hearthstone appear a bit later in Europe. So better go to bed and wait for tomorrow – maybe everything will be “back to normal” and Blizzard will have fixed the issue.
To pass the time, check out all 132 cards from the new expansion.
