It is important to mention that the earnings came solely from tournaments. Any donations and winnings, for example from streaming platforms like Twitch, are not included in these figures. In total, more than 2,100,000 US dollars were awarded in winnings in 2015, which represents an increase of nearly 800,000 $. More than 99 events were included in these calculations, each offering a prize pool of at least $1,000.
It can be expected that Hearthstone as an eSport will also continue to grow significantly in the coming year, as more and more well-known eSport teams like Cloud9 and Archon are committing to the game or securing some celebrities to participate in the big tournaments.
