With the new expansion of Hearthstone there are a few cards for free for the players – namely a Death Knight each!
The next Hearthstone expansion “Knights of the Frozen Throne” is eagerly awaited by the players. But how will the expansion exactly unfold? What is the deal with the Death Knights? And will there be free card packs for the players again?
The Game Director of Hearthstone, Ben Brode, has taken the time between announcements to answer a lot of questions from the community. On Reddit, he participated in one of the popular “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) sessions and shared a lot of knowledge. Although many of the points were already known, there were also some new developments.
Death Knights for all in Knights of the Frozen Throne
Brode revealed that at the release of “Knights of the Frozen Throne” every player will receive a free Death Knight – essentially a “transformation” of the regular hero into their undead form. Whether we have a choice or will be randomly assigned one is still to be determined.
The Death Knights “replace” the actual hero in Hearthstone when played and grant him a new hero ability. This means that with the Knights of the Frozen Throne, there are a total of 9 new hero abilities!
Free card packs through free missions
Knights of the Frozen Throne is also the first “major” card expansion that comes with missions. These are free for all players and do not need to be purchased separately, as was previously the case with adventures. However, this time there will probably be no specific cards as a reward, but rather card packs from the latest expansion.
Thus, Free2Play players should also enjoy some packs from the new expansion without investing a cent into the game.
“Knights of the Frozen Throne” is scheduled to be released in early August. No specific date has been announced yet.
