Hunters in Hearthstone are going to get even more challenging. Soon they can ruin your entire hand and squash great combos at their roots.
The next expansion of Hearthstone, the Scholomance Academy, brings some strong cards with it. Yet one of them is already causing a stir as it breaks a “rule” of Hearthstone. Hunters are the culprits and could soon ruin all your well-planned combos. The card in question is “Glide”.
This is Glide: Glide is a new spell for hunters in the Scholomance Academy. It costs 4 mana and has the following effect: Shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 4 cards.
Even by itself, this is a strong effect to draw up to 4 cards or replace your hand with others. But the spell also has an underdog bonus that makes it especially devastating, namely: Your opponent does this too.
If the hunter plays Glide while the card is on the far right or far left of their hand, both players shuffle their hand into their deck and draw 4 new cards.
What does this mean? Especially for control decks or players waiting for strong combos, this could be devastating. Anyone who has 9 or 10 cards in hand that they’ve accumulated over many rounds for a strong combo could be caught cold by “Glide”. Not only will the cards be shuffled back into the deck, but the current hand size will be set to 4. In the worst case, after the hunter’s turn, you will have 5 cards less in hand than before.
What rule is being broken? For many years, the principle in Hearthstone was that the opponent could not “mess with the cards” you have in hand. While they can force you to draw cards or have certain cards played via effects, they cannot change your entire hand setup – until now.
Glide now throws this concept out the window and completely changes the opponent’s hand. Many a planned move in advance could crumble because of this.
More New Cards from the Scholomance Academy
In recent days, several more cards have also been introduced. Among them are even a few legendary minions, for mages and hunters. You can check out the highlights here:
What do you think of the new cards and especially Glide? Cool or will it be annoying?
