A new, quite nasty “Onehit combo” is wreaking havoc in Hearthstone . We show you how it works.
In Hearthstone, there are a number of so-called “OTK” combos, that is, “One Turn Kill” combos that can defeat the opponent in a single turn. In the standard game mode, these combos are usually impossible, but in the “wild” game mode, where almost all cards are allowed, these combinations occur frequently.
A new OTK combo is now possible with Legacy of the Dragons, which exploits particularly nasty mechanics. We show you how it works.
This is what the combo does: The new combo ensures that the opponent’s hero is replaced by Ragnaros, causing their hit points to drop directly to 8. Immediately after, you steal Ragnaros’ hero power to deal exactly 8 damage, thus defeating the enemy without any chance of retaliation. This looks like this in fast-forward:
How does the combo work? The combo is fundamentally quite easy to execute when the correct cards are in hand. The streamer Solem pulled off the combo on the very first day of the expansion. Here’s how it works.
You need to play a Warlock. The following cards are needed in hand:
- Emperor Thaurissan
- Drakkari Enchantress
- Majordomo Executus
- Buried and Sold
- Rafaam’s Scheme
- Plague of Flames
- Water Goblin
- Grey Sage
Now play Emperor Thaurissan together with the Drakkari Enchantress. This reduces the cost of all other cards in hand by 2 at the end of the turn.
In the next turn, play the combo as follows:
- Play Majordomo Executus.
- Cast Buried and Sold on Majordomo Executus.
- Use Rafaam’s Scheme to summon many minions.
- Destroy all minions with Plague of Flames – your opponent becomes Ragnaros.
- Play the Water Goblin to reduce the cost of your next hero power.
- Play the Grey Sage to swap hero powers.
- Use Ragnaros’ hero power and deal 8 damage directly.
In summary, it can be said that while the combo leads to an immediate victory, it is not easy to execute. You need to have the right cards all in hand and must keep Thaurissan alive long enough for him to unleash his effect.
What do you think of this combo? Is it cool and will you give it a try? Or does something like this ruin the game and shouldn’t be possible at all?
