The new Hearthstone expansion goes to the Darkmoon Faire. Some of the most popular cards are returning.
Blizzard has once again revealed a new expansion for Hearthstone. As many players suspected, the last expansion in 2020 goes to the Darkmoon Faire. It is one of the funnest yet eerily unsettling places. We will reveal what awaits you in “The Darkmoon Madness.”
What’s included in the expansion? As usual, there are 135 new cards available at launch. A smaller “mini-set” with 35 additional cards is expected to follow a few weeks later to shake up the meta a bit and keep the game fresh.
The theme of the expansion is indeed a fun fair, but it will also get quite creepy and dark – reminiscent of “Whispers of the Old Gods.” Of course, a bit of gambling belongs to the fair – although not as much as with this player, who won in turn 1.

The expansion “The Darkmoon Madness” will be released worldwide on November 17, 2020.
Corruption is the new keyword: As usual, there is also a new keyword with Darkmoon Madness. In this case, it is “Corruption.” A card with Corruption receives an additional effect or undergoes a transformation when a card is played that costs more than the Corrupted card.
As an example, there’s the Fleetfoot Pearltusk. It is a beast with the stats 4/4 and Rush for a cost of 5 mana. If Corruption is triggered – because you play a card that costs 6 mana or more – then the Fleetfoot Pearltusk gains +4/+4. It then becomes an 8/8 beast with Rush for only 5 mana. Quite powerful.
The Old Gods return: With the Darkmoon expansion, Blizzard finally makes a long-standing rumor true that has existed in World of Warcraft. The Darkmoon Faire is filled with cultists of the Old Gods who worship these dark creatures. Therefore, all four Old Gods are returning as new cards. Their effects are reminiscent of their previous versions, but each has a new twist.
Log in now for a bonus: If you log in to Hearthstone right now, you will receive a legendary card for free – Silas Darkmoon. He is the head of the fair and a servant for 7 mana with the stats 4/4. His battlecry allows you to choose a direction and shuffle all minions one position in that direction. Thus, you pass the minion on your far right to your opponent while gaining their far left minion. This allows for many tactical plays.
Is there more to come? Yes. The developers have come up with a lot. There’s the new “Duel” game mode, which is a mix of self-built decks and dungeon runs. Anyone who pre-orders the new expansion can test the mode already.
