The developers of Hearthstone are trying to draw players of the card game back into the eSports scene and are therefore holding a small promotional event again. Next week, the HCT Spring Championship 2017 will take place in Shanghai, one of the tournaments that belong to the Hearthstone Championship Tour.
Players can choose one of the participants on the official Hearthstone site and declare them as their personal “champion”. Just for voting, you will receive a free card pack from “Journey to Un’goro”, and for each round that the champion progresses, there is another pack. Altogether, you can receive 4 free card packs if you choose the best Hearthstone player.
Participation is only possible until July 5th at 9:00 AM!
Choose Your Champion – Who Should You Choose?
But who should the champion be? On Reddit, most players lean towards Muzzy, as he has already shone in the preliminary rounds. The same applies to Neirea.
If you prefer to bet on a “fan favorite”, then stick with Kolento, who has made a name for himself in the Hearthstone scene for years, especially for creating the Miracle Rogue.
Also Rdu could be a good choice, as he has already participated in many tournaments.
For the professionals, the tournament is about a lot of money, as a total of $250,000 will be played for, with the 1st place taking home the lion’s share of $60,000 – a substantial sum that can be well planned.
The games themselves will take place from July 7th to 9th and will start at 04:00 AM our time. If you want to experience them live, you have to stay up all night or set your alarm clock early.

Hearthstone Spring Championship 2017 – Here Are the Winners
Update July 9th, 2:30 PM: The tournament has now been held and is over.
The winner is Hoej. He defeated Cortyn’s favorite Kolento in the final with 3-0. Ant and Neirea also made it to the semifinals. CitizenNappa, Mage, Kuonet, and Rdu reached the quarterfinals.
That means in the “You get packs if you bet on the right champion?” matter:
- 4 packs for anyone who chose Hoej or Kolento as their champion.
- 3 packs for Ant and Neirea.
- 2 packs for anyone who bet on CitizenNappa, Mage, Kuonet, or Rdu.
