Shamans in Hearthstone are getting heavily nerfed. But Yogg-Saron is also in for a change.
At Blizzard, they’ve aimed to make changes to existing cards as infrequently as possible. Changes should only occur in exceptional cases when game balance requires it. It seems such a moment has now arrived. Shamans are dominating ranked games in Hearthstone. The developers are pulling the emergency brake and modifying some Shaman cards, but Warriors and neutral cards are also affected. Here are the changes for you:
Shaman:
- Weapon of the Rockbiter now costs 2 mana (previously 1 mana).
- Tuskarr Totemic can now only summon basic totems.

Hunter:
- Call of the Wild now costs 9 mana (previously 8 mana).
Warrior:
- Execute now costs 2 mana (previously 1 mana).
- Charge has been reworked. The spell now costs 1 mana and has the following effect: “Gives a friendly minion Charge. It cannot attack heroes this turn.”

Neutral Minions:
- Ruthless Sergeant now has 1 attack (previously 2 attack).
- Yogg-Saron, Hope’s End no longer casts spells if he is destroyed, silenced, transformed, or returned to his owner’s hand during his battle cry.

The changes will take effect with the next patch.
Cortyn says: I tend to get a bit dramatic, but for me, Yogg-Saron is now dead. This card had a very high random factor that was funny – I personally didn’t care whether I won or lost the game, as long as Yogg-Saron was spectacular. Now Yogg will be played and probably interrupted after three or four activated spells – that’s boring. Very boring.
I welcome the changes to the Shaman very much. I believe that the adjustments to the Tuskarr are a good opportunity to bring some excitement back to the game.
