A fan project enables detailed replays in Hearthstone. Recording is easy.
In Hearthstone, especially cool game scenes happen quite often, mostly when RNG strikes again. However, unless you are a streamer, such moments quickly fade into oblivion. And a cool Yogg-Saron story with 30 different spells doesn’t sound as exciting in retelling as the actual gameplay.
All matches in detailed replay
Unfortunately, Hearthstone still does not offer a built-in replay function, so players have to rely on external help. Some fans have taken on this issue and launched the new website HSReplay.net. The team is also responsible for the Hearthstone Deck Tracker, which allows players to see which cards are still remaining in their deck while playing. The use of the Deck Tracker is explicitly allowed by Blizzard since all information could also be written down with pen and paper. The Deck Tracker is also necessary for the replays. Once you use the Deck Tracker, you log in with your Battle.net account on the HSReplay site (authentication happens through Blizzard), and the setup is complete. When you then play some matches with the Deck Tracker activated, the data is automatically uploaded to the database and can be accessed on the website at any time.
Sure, the presentation is not as action-packed as in the actual game because a large part of the animations is missing. However, the fan project is definitely suitable for error analysis or recounting a cool story.
The system is not entirely error-free yet. With some cards, like Prince Malchezaar, there are still small “logic gaps” where you cannot directly understand why a deck, for example, has grown. But these are still growing pains that will certainly be resolved in the coming weeks.

Do keep in mind that the use of external software is at your own risk.
