Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone is bidding farewell to a keyword from the early days of the game. The Rampage must go.
Hearthstone has evolved significantly in the years since its release. There have been well over a thousand new cards. Many new keywords, such as “Poisonous” or “Lifesteal”, have been added, while some old ones have faded away.
One of these rarely used keywords is “Rampage”. It indicates that a minion has an additional effect as long as it is damaged. The most prominent example here is probably the Raging Worgen. It has +1 Attack and Charge as long as it is damaged and is mainly used in classic Mage decks.
Only 9 cards used Rampage in Hearthstone
However, besides the Raging Worgen, there are only 8 other cards that have ever used Rampage in the history of Hearthstone.
That is why Blizzard has now decided to remove Rampage from the game.
The existing cards will retain their effects, only the card text will be rephrased to no longer use the term “Rampage”.
In the future, Blizzard will not release any cards with such an effect anymore. It is simply too boring and it is difficult to design cards with it. Because minions do not live very long in Hearthstone, and damaged minions even less so.
Other effects that go in a similar direction create, according to Blizzard, more exciting gameplay. The Acolyte of Pain, for example, rewards the player when he manages to damage it particularly often. The same applies to the Gurubashi Berserker, which gains +2 Attack every time it is damaged – and that multiple times.
