The latest game mode of Hearthstone is now live. In Monster Hunt, you experience exciting solo adventures with the 4 unique heroes: Tess Greymane, Darius Crowley, Shaw, and Toki.
With the release of “The Witchwood”, Hearthstone has added a total of 135 new cards, which have since shuffled the meta quite a bit. Especially the dreadful Gloombound has been causing havoc for days, so it will soon receive a proper nerf.
However, the PvE mode from the Witchwood, the so-called Monster Hunt, has been missing. Since last evening, April 26, 2018, this mode is accessible. We will tell you what Monster Hunt is all about!
The Monster Hunt – four new character classes in “Dungeon” mode
In terms of basic principles, Monster Hunt is very similar to the Dungeon of Kobolds and Catacombs. You select a hero at the beginning and then have to defeat 8 enemies, which are partly selected randomly. After each victory, there are 3 new cards for the deck and sometimes a treasure. A defeat means the end of the journey and you have to start over.
In contrast to the Catacombs, you have only 4 character classes to choose from in Monster Hunt, which however come with unique abilities. Each class represents a different “monster hunter” and even has a small storyline with a special final boss and some opponents that only they can meet in the forest.
In total, there are again over 40 different bosses in Monster Hunt and numerous different treasures to upgrade the various hero abilities. This ensures that no Monster Hunt is like the other, and the mode has a high replay value.
These are the 4 heroes available in Monster Hunt
- Tracker Tess Greymane: Tess is a rogue and can discover three class spells that were played in this round with her hero power “Empowerment”. This way, she can multiply her own spells or copy those of the opponent.
- Cannonier Darius Crowley: Crowley is a warrior, who also starts the game with an indestructible cannon on the field. With his hero power, he can fire the cannon, dealing damage to opposing enemies. If an enemy dies, the cannon can fire again.
- Dogmaster Shaw: Shaw is a variant of the hunter and can summon a 1/1 dog with Charge each round with his hero power, making quick work of pesky enemy minions.
- Time tinkerer Toki: Toki is a mage with a very special hero power. For 0 mana, she can restart her turn and undo previous effects. This allows for better control over random effects and correcting potential mistakes.

What rewards does the Monster Hunt bring?
Basically, there is a one-time set of quests for Monster Hunt, in which you must win 10 matches with each of the four characters to receive a card pack from “The Witchwood”.
Please note that the one-time monster hunter quests for the card packs are only available until July 26.
However, those who manage to successfully complete the Monster Hunt with all four classes can face the final boss Hagatha. Here, all four monster hunters join forces in a very difficult boss fight against the orc shaman. If they defeat her successfully, they will be rewarded with an exclusive card back.
How are you enjoying the Monster Hunt of Hearthstone so far? Have you already completed the mode with all heroes and defeated Hagatha?
