New clues suggest a Pirate expansion for Hearthstone. What is the truth behind the rumors?
In the lead-up to BlizzCon, Blizzard continuously publishes new editions of the “Gadgetzan Gazette” and has again released a new page on the official Hearthstone website.
The current edition revolves around life in the city of Gadgetzan under Mayor Noggenfogger, who, together with the Pandaren Madame Goya, has opened a museum that eagerly awaits donations. You can view the complete article – along with the usual absurd advertisements – here (Click to enlarge).
What is particularly exciting about the article is that it again mentions “masked figures” flitting over the rooftops of the city at night. When thinking of thieves and scoundrels, pirates immediately come to mind near Gadgetzan, especially since there is a huge pirate bay nearby. So it is possible that the upcoming expansion will have a strong focus on pirates.
Cortyn says: An addon that at least increasingly focuses on pirates is certainly conceivable. After all, sailors (and women) have so far occupied only a very small niche in Hearthstone and work only in decks that build on weapons – essentially warriors, rogues, and paladins. More synergies and interactions would surely benefit the pirates.
But who knows, perhaps the expansion will also offer something for all types, given that Gadgetzan is a true “all-rounder”. Horde, Alliance, Mechs, Pirates, Murlocs, and whatever else fits perfectly into the Goblin city. After BlizzCon, we will all know more.
